Egg Soap Making Instructions

By Bob Sherman

This is more of an idea sheet than an actual project, however these are fun to make and can be used to create a beautiful display in an egg carton.

Most of the items you may need can be ordered directly from this page for your convenience.

PLEASE NOTE!! - This project uses a chocolate mold - Do Not pour hotter than 160 degrees F. Adult supervision is required.

Chocolate Mold Use
This project uses an inexpensive chocolate mold, however it must be prepared for a use it was not intended for. Follow the instructions here except skip steps 6 and 7. To assemble the mold, align the 2 halves and clamp together. Place it in a mug or other container to hold it upright with the pouring hole at the top.

Instructions

Chunk Style Egg

Make soap chunks by cutting up some colored soap or purchase some soap noodles.

Mist them with your pump spray (improves adhesion) then place in the mold.

Fill the mold with clear glycerine.

When cool, de mold and trim seam with a knife.

Embedded Egg

This resin figurine was used in this project.

Fill the mold 1/3 full with clear soap base. When it starts to set, insert the figurine.

Immediately fill the mold.

Allow to cool, then de mold and trim.

Blended Swirl Egg

Melt 2 different soap colors at the same time.

Allow to cool until a surface film begins to form.

Pour both colors into the mold at the same time.

Allow to cool, then de mold and trim.

Layered Soap Angled Layered Soap

Fill the mold halfway.

Allow to cool, then mist with your pump spray.

Fill mold with second color.

Allow to cool, then de mold and trim.

Angle the mold, then add some soap. Allow to cool, then mist with your pump spray.

Change the angle, then pour the next color. Allow to cool, then mist with your pump spray.

Repeat until mold is full.

Allow to cool, then de mold and trim.

Glycerine soap attracts moisture from the air so keeping them tightly wrapped in plastic until ready for use is recommended.

Those with more patience than me can do a neater job of it though.

An empty egg carton makes a nice display.

If possible use the styrofoam type since they are waterproof.
