As I write this first post, It occurs to me that I have really missed out on a lot over my lifetime by not cooking. Being a “picky eater”, those cooking for me settled into a routine of making the same meals week in and week out. Most folks who cook for their family probably fall into this complacency. I do not fault them for this, as it is the fastest way to get through the chore of cooking and safest way to avoid complaints about their cooking.

Part of my interest in cooking was sparked by the TV series Top Chef (Bravo Network). Although the contestants  without fail cooked stuff that I wouldn’t eat on a bet, it engendered enough interest that I decided to explore the possibilities of adding some variety to my diet.

Now several months later, I have been doing all the family cooking and watching an absurd amount of cooking shows. What is even more important is that I now look forward to eating, rather than just eating to sustain my body.

I have learned that being a picky eater does not mean you have to suffer through a bland boring diet and hope to share my experiences and recipes with those who are interested.
