About

This blog is devoted primarily to cooking for discriminating eaters and their families.  Admittedly it would be a lot easier to satisfy my hunger if I was only cooking for myself,  but I have a family who eats what could be considered normally making it necessary to cook things I won’t eat as well.  A secondary mission will be to provide solid cooking information for those seeking to learn a bit about cooking.

All my life I have been called a picky eater, but I prefer to think of myself as just having more discrimination about what I put in my mouth. This goes well beyond simply disliking the taste - some foods will make me physically ill to the extent that just thinking about them makes me gag.

For most of my life this has made my diet fairly simple - my staple diet consisted of steak, burgers, chicken, shrinp, rice, egg noodles, and french fried potatoes. This pretty much simplified cooking for me and every day was lunch and dinner consisting of some combination of these foods.

In recent years I have been obliged to eat less and less of my staple diet in the name of staying healthy. As you might imagine, this was somewhat of a crisis for me and devolved into alternating my staple foods with meatless meals consisting of  flavored rice or mac and cheese.

After several years of this, I’d had enough. There had to be a  better way and I decided to take over all the family cooking to prove it. This should prove to be quite a challenge because except for candy making and a bit of baking, my total cooking experience was steaks on a grill.

So follow along as I embark on this challenge.
