Cookie Embed Wedding Favor
Chocolate Project

By Bob Sherman

This inexpensive yet tasty wedding favor will delight your guests. It uses the popular cookie embed molds in a bride and groom representation and is packaged neatly in a clear plastic box. For this article I used generic colors, but this project is well suited to customizing colors to match the wedding colors or skin tones. A custom color blending chart is available here if needed.

Many of the items you may need can be ordered directly from this page for your convenience.

PLEASE NOTE!! - Although chocolate making is relatively safe for the entire family to participate, adult supervision is required.

Squeeze Bottles
If you need to make a large quantity of these the process can be sped up tremendously by using multiple molds and doing the painting with squeeze bottles in place of paint brushes. Note that this does not work as well for small quantities of molds as cleaning the squeeze bottles will negate any time savings.

Chocolate
I prefer to use chocolate wafers designed for home molding chocolate. My preferred brand is Merckens which works well with all chocolate molding projects, is available in a wide selection of colors, and tastes great.

Melting Chocolate
Either melting method may be used, but I find the double boiler works best for filling these. The small amounts of colored chocolate are more easily melted in a microwave.

Double Boiler - See Double Boiler Usage Instructions.

A microwave may also be used but care must be taken not to overheat the chocolate.

  1. Place the chocolate in a microwave safe bowl.
  2. Heat for 30 seconds.
  3. Remove and stir.
  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until the chocolate is creamy.
  5. Optimum pouring temperature is about 90 degrees F. Do not place the thermometer in the microwave!

Step 1
The molds are used without modification. Both the bride and groom molds were used here.

Step 2
Melt some paramount crystals. Stir in some pink luster dust.

Step 3
Use a brush to paint a thin coat on the flower area.

Step 4
Melt some milk chocolate. Adding a pinch of paramount crystals to coatings make them easier to paint with. Paint the bow tie and buttons. Allow to harden before continuing.

Step 5
Super white chocolate was used to paint the necklace, shirt, and pocket. Allow to harden before continuing.

Step 6
Peach color chocolate was used for the skin. Custom skin tones can be made using the color mixing chart. Close up view shows bride mold ready for final pour.
