This
fun project shows how to make fun, colorful chocolate covered pretzels for
Halloween. I have shown several styles, but the technique is the same for
all
Many of the items you may need can be ordered directly from this page for your convenience.
PLEASE NOTE!! - Although chocolate making is relatively safe for the entire family to participate, adult supervision is required.
Chocolate
I prefer to use chocolate wafers designed for home molding chocolate.
My preferred brand is Merckens which works well with all chocolate molding
projects, is available in a wide selection of colors, and tastes great.
Melting Chocolate
Either melting method may be used, but I find the double boiler works best
for these. The small amounts of colored chocolate are more easily melted in
a microwave.
Double Boiler - See Double Boiler Usage Instructions.
A microwave may also be used but care must be taken not to overheat the chocolate.
The following chocolate making supplies and other materials were used to make this project. Clicking on the item name will bring you to that item's page with a full description and ordering information.
| Item | Amount Used |
| Chocolate Coating | Milk chocolate was used here, but other colors could also be used if desired. |
| Black Non-Pareils | One bottle will do many of these. |
| Orange Non-Pareils | One bottle will do many of these. |
| Bats & Ghosts Edible Confetti | One bottle will do many of these. |
| Autumn Leaves Edible Confetti | One bottle will do many of these. |
| Double Boiler | One. |
| Thermometer | One. |
| Dipping Tools | Optional - The fork from this set is handy if covering the entire pretzel. |
| Mini Pretzel Rods | One for each. |
Step 1
Melt the chocolate.
Step 2
Dipping the pretzels can be done leaving one end uncovered to make them less
messy to eat (as shown here), or the entire pretzel may be covered if you
prefer. Dip 4 or 5 at a time and place on waxed paper.
Step 3
Immediately sprinkle on the toppings you desire before they cool.
Style
1
These were sprinkled with Autumn Leaves edible confetti.

2
These were sprinkled with Bats And Ghosts edible confetti. For additional
color, orange non-pareils may be added as well like the center pretzel in
this photo.

3
These were sprinkled with black and orange non-pareils.
Summary
These are just a few ideas and you will likely come up with others.
