This
project goes very fast and coconut lovers will go crazy for this. An Easter
Egg motif was used, but this technique may be applied to balls, logs, etc...
Most of the items you may need can be ordered directly from this page for your convenience.
PLEASE NOTE!! - Although chocolate making is relatively safe for the entire family to participate, adult supervision is required.
Chocolate
I prefer to use chocolate wafers designed for home molding chocolate.
My preferred brand is Merckens which works well with all chocolate molding
projects, is available in a wide selection of colors, and tastes great.
Melting Chocolate
Either melting method may be used, but you need to melt a fairly large amount
so I find the double boiler more convenient.
Double Boiler - See Double Boiler Usage Instructions.
A microwave may also be used but care must be taken not to overheat the chocolate.
The following chocolate making supplies and other materials were used to make this project. Clicking on the item name will bring you to that item's page with a full description and ordering information.
| Item | Amount Used |
| Chocolate Coating | Dark chocolate was used here. |
| Coconut Dough | One tub. |
| Dipping Fork | A regular fork may be used but is not as easy to work with. |
| Thermometer | One. |
| Double Boiler | For melting chocolate. |

| 1. Using a marble sized piece of coconut dough, roll it between your palms into a ball. Next roll it forward and back to get an egg shape. This is pretty much impossible to describe, so just play with it until you have a technique that works for you. | 2. Dip in melted chocolate. |

| 3. Place on wax paper to cool. | 4. Optional - Colored chocolate may be used to decorate these. I used the back end of a brush to make dip dots, but a squeeze bottle could also be used to make lines and other patterns. |
