Donation Policy
The owners of this corporation donate what they can personally to several
organizations but no donations at all are made under the corporate name. Although
we are a socially conscious corporation, it is our policy not to donate
funds or materials to any organization in our corporate name for several
reasons:
- Most solicitations for donations arrive by email. We do not have the time
or inclination to sort out which are legitimate and which are scams. Due
to the high percentage of email scams in the guise of fund raising for charities
and not for profit organizations, no email solicitations will
even be considered or replied to.
- There are far too many people working in fund raising who will harass
corporations constantly for more donations once you have donated one time.
I suspect these are the same folks who work on a commission and get to keep
a portion of what they raise. At any rate, they will not be successful harassing
us for donations. Generally this type of solicitation is done by phone,
with no real way to insure it is not a scam. Telephone solicitations waste
our employees time, and because of this no telephone solicitations
will even be considered assuming we don't just hang up on you.
- The number of requests for donations that arrive here daily is well beyond
the comprehension of most people. Even if we could donate our entire profit,
it would not be enough to donate to all of them. I am sure that you feel
your charity is a worthy cause, but so are the thousands of other requests
we get each year in the eyes of those requesting them. As a general rule
no solicitations are responded to - we have chosen the organizations we
wish to support and that won't change.
- Door prize requests and similar "donation in exchange for advertising"
requests at local or regional shows and meetings cannot be sent. Many of
these requests are received daily, but this has become a popular method
of scam artists. Again we don't have the time to sort legitimate requests
from scam requests, and many of these organizations are impossible to check
on anyway so we do not donate to this type of organization.
- My wife and I donate to several national organizations plus a few local
ones in our town. These are the same each year and made in our name - not
by the corporation. We also make room for non budgeted donations of our
choosing during times of emergency such as 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina. I'm
sorry if your organization is not one of them, but we donate as much as
we can to those organizations which are our preferred charities. I won't
list them here because we donate from the heart, and not for any recognition
or bragging rights.
