I am trying wrap some leather arond a curved surface. I know the leather will wrap and contour easier if I soak it in water first, but the adhesive I am using is water-based (Leather Weld) and says the surfaces must be dry. Can I still use this glue even if the leather is still damp, or is there a better way? I thought about wetting it then wrapping and letting it dry w/ out glue then glueing it, but in order to wrap this I have to tuck it into 2 different cracks, This requires me to tuck it in with a tool which may cause blemishes to the leather which will be hidden in the cracks but when I take it out to apply the glue, it may not line up the same and the blemishes may show. It would be ideal if I could glue and wrap it while it is damp. Are there any tecniques that I can apply?

The usual process is to form it wet and allow to dry in shape, then glue it. I dont know of any way to do this wet, although there are some adhesives out there which will dry when wet. You may want to visit a hardware store and see what they have.
The typical way to do this is to make a multi part wooden form in the identical shape which separates at the tuck points and is clamped or screwed together at the tuck points. This can then be easily unclamped when the leather is dry and transferred to the desired object. This is very time consuming and is more typically used in production rather than for one of a kind.
Hope this helps.
