Step
9
The cavity is filled with the scented and colored wax poured at 175
- 185 degrees F.
Step
10
Allow it to cool fully. Note how the double dose of Vybar (2 tsp.)
has caused some surface ripples.
Step
11
Trim the wicks to approximately 1/4 inch.
Step
12
Work your fingers under the edge of the candle and lift it from the sand.
This tends to be a bit messy so you may wish to cover your work surface with
newspaper for easy clean up.
Step
13
Rub off the loose sand with fingers or a stiff brush.
Optional - Heating the sand slightly with a torch or heat gun will allow the wax to soak through and give a darker appearance. This is a matter of personal preference
Step 14
The finished candle.
IMPORTANT: These candles appear deceptively solid, however the bottom is mainly wax and will eventually melt out so these should always be burned on a heat resistant surface able to catch drips.
