By Bob Sherman

This is page three of a three page article. If you arrived here from an outside link, click here to view it from the beginning.

PLEASE NOTE!! - This project requires working with hot wax so all normal candle making safety rules apply. Candle making can be dangerous if proper safety procedures are not followed. Please read these Safety Rules before attempting any candle making projects.

This article assumes basic candle making skills. If you are new to candle making, my Introduction To Candle Making Online Course is free and will show you all the basics for working with wax safely.

Step By Step Instructions - Continued From Page 2

17. Once hardened the top inside edge can be scraped to a clean edge if necessary. Next remove the candle from the mold 18. Level the top edge against a heated pan or griddle.
19. A piece of cork should always be placed inside hurricane shells to insulate the hot glass when burning. Failure to do this may result in the votive holder melting through the bottom when it heats up. 20. The cork in place - note it only needs to be large enough to provide a stable base for the glass votive holder.
21. A votive and votive holder are used inside. 22. The candle is centered in the shell.
23. The lower edge of the seam pulled away from the mold when cooling, causing this whitish patch. The design still shows through when burning. 24. The finished candle.
