Candle Uneven Burning Problem
Troubleshooting Guide

Candles that burn unevenly are fairly common. The only symptom is that one or more sides melt faster than others. There are several common causes of this.

Burning In A Draft
The slightest draft will cause a candle to burn unevenly by creating a steady stream of heated air (from the flame) against one side of the candle.

Prevention - Avoid burning candles in a draft.

Wick Not Centered
If the wick in single wick candles is not well centered, it may cause the candle to burn unevenly.

Prevention - Every effort should be made to keep wicks straight and centered when candle making.

Multi Wick Candles
Multiple wick candles will rarely burn evenly as some portions of the candle are always closer to the wick than others.

Prevention - None.

Odd Shape Candles
Candles with irregular shapes will usually not burn evenly.

Prevention - None.
