Candle Snowflake / Mottling Problem
Troubleshooting Guide
The snowflake effect on candles is caused by oil mottling.
Mottled Candles
Mottling is a reaction in the wax caused primarily by the addition of
oil. Cooling time also has some bearing - the same formula when cooled
too slow or too fast will often not cause the candle to mottle. Mottling
can occur with some waxes with the addition of less than one ounce of
oil.
Prevention - The only way to be certain a candle won't mottle is to use
vybar in the wax.
