Candle Crayon Dye Problem
Troubleshooting Guide
This is a guide for troubleshooting candles that have been
dyed with crayons.
Using Crayons As Candle Dyes
Using crayons as candle dyes usually causes burning problems. Most crayons
are made with pigments. When pigments are used in candles they tend to
clog the wick. It may clog just a little causing it to burn poorly, or
it may clog totally and have trouble supporting a flame.
Prevention - Never use crayons in candles regardless of what you may
have read on an amateur or hobbyist run candle making site. Aside from
the burning problems, dye blocks are cheaper than crayons anyway.
